TREASURER’S REPORT, AGM, 22 April 2006
Overleaf from this report is a copy of the annual accounts for the year ended 31 March 2006.  As at 31 March this year, the balance of the General Fund was  £2464.02 (£1744.17) and the balance of the Glauert Fund was £3326.41 (£3000.00).

Comments on the General Fund:-
a) Subscriptions down by £350 – numbers have already been reported by the Secretary.  Subscriptions contain annual amounts of £50 which distort the position.
b) There was a small deficit of £18.99 regarding the Autumn Lunch, due to the provision of entertainment for guests.
c) Room hire is in respect of Committee meetings at the Wesley Chapel in Hoxton Road, Scarborough.
d) Excess of income over expenditure for 2005/6 was £719.85 compared with £923.05 for 2004/5.

Comments on the Glauert Fund:-

e) Donations and fundraising down by £170 – we did not hold a Christmas Fair, as in the previous year.
f) The Glauert Prize was increased from £50 to £100 for 2005/6
g) Excess of income over expenditure for 2005/6 was £326.41 compared with £514.82 for 2004/5.

General Comments:-

As the bulk of the Glauert Fund is held in a Scottish Widows Tracker account, earning a reasonable rate of interest, the Committee holds the view that fundraising is not essential, as the interest should yield sufficient to support the annual prize.  However, social events provide opportunities for renewing friendships etc. and the Committee will continue to organize such occasions, as suggested/supported by the members.

Finally, I would like to record my thanks to our accountant, Chris Found, who has again examined the accounts in a very short timescale.  Because of holidays etc. this turn-around may not always be possible.  Either the AGM could be held later in the year or the year-end could be altered to a date earlier than 31st March.  I intend to raise this matter in Any Other Business.

This concludes my report and I will answer any questions.

Hon. Treasurer
