| Starting
with last year’s A.G.M. and Lunch we were successful in having a number
of articles published about the Old Girls’ Association and our activities.
Coverage of the Association’s activities during the year was quite good.
The Scarborough Evening News was, as in previous years, the most responsive.
It ran various articles on the Association, the Glauert prize and other
activities.
I sent press releases and e-mails this year to a wide variety of publications with reasonable results. Overall, we managed to achieve mentions in several papers and magazines. The Yorkshire Life, the Ridings Magazine, the Dalesman, Scarborough Evening News, Ryedale Gazette and Herald, Malton Mercury and Whitby Gazette were all contacted during the year and most of them managed to give our events some coverage even if small. BBC Radio York also ran a couple of features/interviews including one about the rediscovery of the old School Song and, most recently, an interview about the search for the former pupil who was a George Cross recipient. To sum up, I think we have done reasonably well once again in achieving coverage of our activities over the past year. Finally, I have enjoyed my time
as Publicity Officer for the Association. However, because I have recently
taken on extra responsibilities I have reluctantly decided to give up the
role. If I can help my successor in any way I will be pleased to do so.
