1) In the absence of the President, Miss Hilda Briggs, who was doing a parachute jump to raise money for Age Concern, Mrs. Pam Elliott (one of our Vice-presidents) opened the meeting at 11.05am. She welcomed everyone present and asked for a minute’s silence to pay respects to those members who had died during the past twelve months, Mrs Sybil Merryweather (nee Rymer) 1946 – 1953), Mrs Edith Megginson (nee Bamforth) 1934 – 1938 and Mrs Barbara Lee ( nee Fox) 1942 – 1949. She also asked us to remember absent friends.

4) The minutes of the AGM held on April 24^th 2004 were read. Proposed correct by Judith Appleby, seconded by Olga Tidd.

5) Matters arising – Margaret Hunter said that at the last AGM she had suggested raising subscriptions to allow more money to be transferred to the Glauert Memorial Prize Fund and asked if this had been considered. The chairlady said that sufficient money had been raised by fund raising activities this year, so it had not been necessary to make the increase. The Glauert Fund would also be transferred to an account paying a higher rate of interest to generate more income.

10) The committee suggested that rule 4 of the constitution should be amended to read:-

"The management of the committee shall be vested in a committee of twelve members, including a chairlady, secretary, treasurer and publicity officer"

Dena Hebditch proposed that the amendment should be accepted, this was seconded by Margaret Mollon and approved unanimously.

11) Election of new committee members

Treasurer - Joyce Perry, proposed by Sandra Park, seconded by Denise Willey.

Assistant treasurer – Anne Davidson, proposed by Susan Inchbald, seconded by Pam Elliot.

Committee member – Mary Barry, proposed by Lynne Reed, seconded by Muriel Flinton.

Committee member – Olga Tidd, proposed by Joyce Perry, seconded by Margery Raper.

Committee member – June Dent, proposed by Jean Bogie, seconded by Olga Tidd.

12) Chris Found is willing to review the accounts next year. Pam Elliot proposed that we should ask him to do this, seconded by Margaret Hunter.

14) Members were reminded that the new membership form, which includes the clause relating to the Data Protection Act should be returned to the secretary. Forms were issued to members who had not already completed the new version.

1. Dena Hebditch asked the Association to send congratulations to Miss Briggs for completing a parachute jump to raise funds for Age Concern. £43.20 was collected for the charity at the AGM and passed to Miss Briggs.
2. Pam Elliot proposed advertising future events in the Dalesman to achieve wider coverage (six weeks notice is required). Other members suggested the Scarborough Evening News, Saga Magazine and Yorkshire Coast Radio as good places to publicise the SGHS Association.
3. Maureen Ille offered to produce a slide show for the next AGM
